Paruppu Thogayal is traditional South Indian dish. Thogayal can be prepared within 5 minutes. Paruppu thogayal is light and good for digestion.

Ingredients
  • Toor dal - ⅓ cup
  • Pepper - 3-4
  • Red chili - 1
  • Asafoetida- generous pinch
  • Salt - as needed
  • Oil - ⅛ tsp
Method
  1. In a pan on low heat add oil. Add toor dal, red chili and pepper and sauté till the toor dal changes golden brown; switch off
  2. Add hing and salt; let it cool down
  3. Grind the mixture into powder and finally add little water according to the desired consistency. Thogayal is ready<img draggable=" src="http://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/72x72/1f60a.png">" src="http://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/72x72/1f60a.png">
  4. Notes:
  5. Toor dal powder can be made and befor eating can add Little water to the desired texture
  6. Garlic can be added for extra flavour
  7. Coconut can be added while grind dal
  8. No thalipu (tadka) for this thogayal. If you prefer can make it will mustard seeds and urad dal
  9. Thogayal can be mixed with rice or taken as a side for rasam rice
