Wash and soak brown lentil and rice
Soak them for at least one hour in hot water
Add ghee into the instant pot and turn on IP IN “saute” mode
Once when IP display shows “Hot”, add fennel seeds, poppy seeds, bay leaf, and clove give a quick mix. let them splutter
Add onion and give a quick mix
Furthermore add ginger - garlic paste and green chilli, mix well
Cook the onion for 4 minutes, saute in between
Add sugar and little salt and saute for 2-3 minutes until onions start caramelized
Discard the water add the soaked rice - lentil
Press “cancel” and mix well, make sure nothing is stick to the pan
Add water, pepper- cumin powder, and salt; mix well
Cook in rice mode and do natural pressure release
Gently open the cooker and fluff the rice
