Iyengar bakery masala toast is a popular indian bakery snack.  A simple 10 minutes dish is perfect for after-school snacks and also a healthy dish

Bread for toast

Traditionally Maida bread is used but you can use any variety you choose.

Can I use oil for toasting?

Butter gives the best flavor if you use vegan butter or oil.

Veggies for masala toast

Traditionally carrots, cabbage, capsicum, and onion are used. You can use veggies of your choice.

Can I prepare this make ahead for a party?

Yes, if you spread the masala it tastes good that’s how it is served in the bakery if you prefer crunchy bread, toast bread, and keep masala separately.

Ingredients 

Masala

1 tbsp peanut oil 

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1 green chilli

Salt

1 Onion

Turmeric powder

1 Big tomato

1/4 cup capsicum

1 Carrot

Pinch of sugar

1 cup Cabbage

2 tbsp tomato ketchup

1 tsp garam masala

Pinch of chaat masala

1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder

  • Add onion; roast till onion turns translucent

  • add ketchup and chaat masala; mix well and turn off the stove
