Almond Halwa | Badam Halwa

Badam halwa is a rich and tasty sweet prepared with Badam. Usually Almond halwa is prepared with almonds here is a quick version with Almond flour/meal. Delicious halwa can be prepared within 10 minutes. Perfect make-ahead dessert for Pooja, party, get-together etc.

Ingredients

  • Almond flour - 1/3 cup
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Milk - 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Butter/ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Saffron - few strands

Instructions

  • In a mixie jar add almond flour, sugar and milk and grind it without adding water
  • In a wide pan add butter, saffron and grinder almond mixture
  • Cook it in low flame stirring once in a while to avoid the mixture from sticking to the pan
  • Once it starts bubbling stir continuously and switch off just before it reaches the halwa consistency. Garnish with nuts and serve

Notes

  1. Yellow Food color can be added
  2. If your are using regular almonds. Soak it for an hour in hot water. Remove the skin and grind it with sugar and milk
  3.  Adjust the sugar according to your taste
  4. Use a non stick pan or heavy bottomed pan to avoid burning
  5. Keep stirring the halwa frequently to avoid the mixture from becoming brown
  6.  For vegan version using water instead of milk and coconut oil instead of butter
  7. Adjust the butter according to your preference
  8. Halwa thickens overtime. Swtich off the stove a minute before it comes to the preferred consistency
