Maa Ladoo / Maladu / Pottukadalai Laddu | Roasted Gram Balls

Ingredients

  • Pottukadalai | Roasted Gram - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup Adjust according to your Sweetness
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Hot melted Ghee - 1/3 cup

Instructions

  • In a mixie jar, add pottukadalai and grind into a fine powder
  • Add sugar to the same jar and grind into fine Powder, giving regular intervals in between
  • In a wide pan, add 2 tablespoon of ghee, and when the ghee is hot, add cashews; saute them until golden brown
  • Turn down the flame and add the ground mixture and 3 tablespoon of hot melted ghee
  • Turn off the stove and mix well. The mixture will come together
  • If the mixture is not binding well, add a little more ghee
  • Let the mixture turn warm. Do not allow the mixture to cool down completely
  • Grease your hands with a little ghee and take a small portion of the dough
  • Roll well and transfer to the plate
  • After the Maladu is cool, transfer it into an airtight container

Notes

  1.  Jaggery/ brown sugar can be used instead of white sugar. Grate the jaggery and pulse it well and add it to the roasted gram flour
  2. Dates can be used instead of sugar (Refer Nuts & Dates Ladoo)
  3. Confectionery (Powdered) sugar can be used instead  lg powderedimg the sugar
  4. Cardamom pods can be used instead of Powder
  5. Turbinado sugar can also be used instead of brown sugar. Pulse it before adding
