Ingredients

Soak

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup Toor dal

Pressure cook

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 red chilli
  • 6 small onion
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon sambar powder heaped
  • Carrot capsicum, okra, brinjal and potato
  • Drumstick
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt heaped

Sambar sadam

  • 1/2 cup tamarind water
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 cashews

Instructions

  • First, wash and soak rice and dal
  • Add hot water and soak for 3 hours
  • Drain the water and keep it aside
  • Add peanut and sesame oil to a cooker and heat. When the oil is hot mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and splutter
  • Furthermore,e add red chilli and curry leaves; roast
  • add onion and small onion; saute till onion turns translucent
  • furthermore, add mixed vegetables, turmeric powder, and sambar powder; saute forĀ  2 minutes
  • Add soaked rice - dal, water, chilli powder; boil well
  • Furthermore add drumstick and salt; pressure cook for 3 whistles and Simmer for a minute;do natural pressure release
  • Mix well
  • Furthermore add hot water, tamarind water and boil till sambar Rice comes together
  • Add ghee to tadka pan and heat
  • Furthermore, add cashews; roast golden brown
  • Transfer to the sambar Rice and serve hot
