What is Beans Peanut Usili?
Beans Peanut Usili is a South Indian–style stir fry made with green beans and a roasted peanut–sesame–spice mixture. It’s similar to traditional usili but uses peanuts instead of lentils, giving it a nutty, crunchy texture.
Is this recipe authentic to Andhra cuisine?
Yes. The use of roasted peanuts, sesame seeds, and simple tempering is common in Andhra home cooking, giving the dish its signature flavor.
What can I serve Beans Peanut Usili with?
It pairs well with steamed rice, sambar, rasam, curd rice, chapati, or millet-based meals.
Can I make this recipe without peanuts?
You can replace peanuts with roasted chana dal or cashews, but the flavor will differ. Peanuts give the most authentic Andhra-style taste.
How do I keep the beans crunchy?
Cook them covered with minimal water and avoid overcooking. Sautéing at the end helps remove moisture and keeps the texture crisp.
