Traditionally Modern Food (TMF)

Hi, I'm Vidya Srinivasan. Thank you for visiting TMF. I was born and raised in Chennai, and now I live in the USA. I'm an engineer by profession, but I've always loved food and cooking. Over time, that love slowly grew into a full‑time blogging journey.

I started cooking with my mom's handwritten cookbook - the same one she used when I was growing up. I still keep it safe because it holds so many memories. When I moved abroad, I realized how much I missed the comfort of home‑style food. That's when I began writing down my kitchen experiments along with the traditional recipes I learned from my mom and grandmother. My husband encouraged me to share these recipes through a blog, and that's how Traditionally Modern Food (TMF) was born.

TMF is all about simple, everyday vegetarian Indian cooking. You'll find everything from classic South Indian dishes to fusion recipes made with ingredients that are easy to find outside India, which is exactly why the name "Traditionally Modern Food" fits so well. It's the story of many of our kitchens, where tradition meets what's available and practical. I also enjoy exploring flavors from different regions, such as Sri Lankan, Italian, and Indo‑Chinese cuisines, and sharing my love for eggless baking.

As a mom of two kids, I know how busy life can get. So you'll also see quick lunchbox ideas, protein‑rich meals, one‑pot dishes, and no‑cook recipes that make everyday cooking easier.

My goal is to share food that feels comforting, doable, and full of flavor - a mix of tradition and modern cooking, just like the name suggests.

If you enjoy homestyle traditional recipes with a modern twist, you're in the right place.
