Butterscotch Chips Pudding is a creamy, rich, and ultra‑quick microwave dessert made with just a handful of pantry ingredients. If you love butterscotch flavor — or have a kid at home who does — this pudding becomes a lifesaver for sudden sweet cravings.

My son adores butterscotch and white chocolate chips, so I always keep baking chips stocked in my pantry. They’re perfect for quick treats like 1‑minute cookies, fudge, muffins, and now this silky butterscotch pudding. With the holiday season around the corner, if your pantry is filled with chocolate chips for baking, this pudding is one of the easiest ways to whip up a warm, comforting dessert in minutes.

It’s simple, kid‑friendly, and customizable — a perfect last‑minute sweet indulgence.

What is butterscotch chips pudding? A quick microwave pudding made by melting butterscotch chips with milk, cream, and cornflour until thick and creamy.

Can I replace butterscotch chips? Yes — semi‑sweet or dark chocolate chips work beautifully.

Why use cornflour? It thickens the pudding and gives it a smooth, custard‑like texture.

Can I make this without heavy cream? Yes. Replace with whole milk or evaporated milk for a lighter version.

How do I prevent lumps? Mix well before microwaving and stir thoroughly after every heating cycle.

How long does the pudding take to cook? About 1½–2 minutes total, depending on microwave wattage.

Can I serve it chilled? Yes. It thickens further in the fridge and tastes even better cold.

Is this kid‑friendly? Absolutely. It’s mild, sweet, and perfect for quick after‑school treats.

Can I add toppings? Chopped nuts, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, or extra chips all work well.

Can I double the recipe? Yes — increase microwave time in 20–30 second intervals and stir in between.

Notes

  1. Keep mixing the mixture well before every batch
  2. Semi sweet/dark chocolate can also be used for the pudding
  3. I added vanilla extract but any other flavoring complimenting the chips can be used
  4. Evaporated milk can be used instead of heavy cream
  5. If you don’t have heavy cream handy 1/2 cup whole fat milk can be used instead of 1/3 cup
