- First, wash and soak toor dal 
- Add turmeric powder, water, pressure cook for 4 whistles 
- Add raw mango, onion, tomato, green chilli, turmeric powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, salt, water; pressure cook on low flame for 12 minutes or 1 whistle in medium flame 
- Partial mash well and boil 
- Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, red chili, and curry leaves 
- saute garlic 
- Add asafoetida; mix well and transfer
