Ingredients

Cook dal

  • 1/2 cup toor dal
  • 1 +1/2 cup water
  • Turmeric powder

Mango Pappu

  • 1/2 big raw mango
  • 1/4 cup onion
  • 1 garlic
  • Tomato
  • 3 green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup water

To temper

  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 Red chilli
  • Curry leaves
  • 5 garlic
  • Asafoetida

Instructions

  • First, wash and soak toor dal
  • Add turmeric powder, water, pressure cook for 4 whistles
  • Add raw mango, onion, tomato, green chilli, turmeric powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, salt, water; pressure cook on low flame for 12 minutes or 1 whistle in medium flame
  • Partial mash well and boil
  • Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, red chili, and curry leaves
  • saute garlic
  • Add asafoetida; mix well and transfer
