Kara Prasad is a traditional gurudwara Indian prasadam made primarily with wheat flour, sugar, and ghee.  It’s a rich and indulgent dessert often served during festivals or celebrations in Punjab.

can I reduce ghee

Traditionally, temple prasadam is prepared with equal wheat flour and ghee. For the homestyle version, you can reduce ghee. If you serve kada prashad after a few hours, warm it a little  to melt the ghee  

Can I skip roasting wheat flour?

No, it gives the perfect texture and taste for the atta halwa. Traditionally wheat is roasted till it turns brown with a nutty flavor

Can I add milk?

Traditionally water is used but you can use milk for cooking. In that case, use milk and sugar; mix well

Can I increase sugar?

Yes, adjust the sugar according to your sweetness.

Cashew or raisins?

Yes, you can add according to your preference for temple prasadam it is not added.

Can I add food color?

Not added traditionally but you can add according to your preference

How long should I cook halwa?

Cook till halwa thickens and leave the side of the pan.

1/2 cup sugar, heaped

1 cup water

1/2 cup wheat flour

1/2 cup ghee
