Iyengar bakery masala toast is a popular indian bakery snack.  A simple 10 minutes dish is perfect for after-school snacks and also a healthy dish

Bread for toast

Traditionally Maida bread is used but you can use any variety you choose.

Can I use oil for toasting?

Butter gives the best flavor if you use vegan butter or oil.

Veggies for masala toast

Traditionally carrots, cabbage, capsicum, and onion are used. You can use veggies of your choice.

Can I prepare this make ahead for a party?

Yes, if you spread the masala it tastes good that's how it is served in the bakery if you prefer crunchy bread, toast bread, and keep masala separately.

Ingredients 

Masala

1 tablespoon peanut oil 

½ teaspoon mustard seeds

1 teaspoon ginger

½ teaspoon cumin seeds

1 green chilli

Salt

1 Onion

Turmeric powder

1 Big tomato

¼ cup capsicum

1 Carrot

Pinch of sugar

1 cup Cabbage

2 tablespoon tomato ketchup

1 teaspoon garam masala

Pinch of chaat masala

1 teaspoon Kashmiri chilli powder

how to make masala bread with step-by-step pictures 

  • first, add oil and heat

  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds; splutter

  • furthermore, Add green chilli and ginger; roast well

  • Add onion; roast till onion turns translucent

  • Furthermore, Add tomato; quick mix

  • Add chilli powder, garam masala, salt, and turmeric powder; mix well

  • Furthermore, Add carrot, capsicum, and cabbage; saute well

  • add ketchup and chaat masala; mix well and turn off the stove

  • Finally, add coriander leaves; mix well

  • Toast bread golden brown with butter

  • Add masala; serve
