Looking for a shortcut to traditional palkova without hours of stirring? This Microwave Palkova—also known as Milk Halwa, Therattipal, or Aavin-style Palkova—is your answer! Made with just condensed milk, yogurt, and ghee, this creamy, melt-in-your-mouth sweet is ready in under 10 minutes. Perfect for festive occasions or sudden sweet cravings, this recipe delivers authentic flavor with minimal effort. Let’s explore how to make it lump-free, glossy, and perfectly textured using your microwave.

What is special about microwave caramel palgova

This Microwave Dulce de Leche Palkova is a modern twist on the classic milk halwa, made effortlessly in minutes. Using just a few ingredients—dulce de leche (caramelized condensed milk), yogurt, and ghee—you can recreate the nostalgic flavor of Aavin-style palkova with a hint of caramel depth. Perfect for festive celebrations or a quick indulgence, this recipe delivers creamy texture, golden color, and authentic taste using your microwave.

    What is high-power cooking time?

Cook in 1-minute intervals, stirring each time to prevent overflow and ensure even cooking.

How long does it take to cook?

Typically 6–8 minutes, depending on your microwave wattage. Stir every minute for the best results.

Why add yogurt to microave palkova?

Yogurt helps curdle the condensed milk slightly, giving palkova its signature grainy texture and depth of flavor.

Can I use butter instead of ghee?

Ghee adds a richer aroma and glossy finish compared to butter

How do I know when it’s done?

The mixture thickens, turns pale golden, and starts leaving the sides of the bowl. It should look sticky and glossy, not runny.

What’s the shelf life of microwave therattipal?

It stays fresh for 3-4 days at room temperature, and up to a week refrigerated. Reheat gently before serving.

Can I add flavorings or toppings?

yes! Cardamom powder, saffron, chopped almonds, or pistachios add flavor and texture.

    Texture & Cooking Tips

    • Use a wide microwave-safe bowl to prevent overflow.
    • Stir every minute to avoid burning and ensure even cooking.
    • Don’t overcook—it will harden as it cools.
    • Add ghee at the end for a glossy finish.
    • Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving for the best texture.

Does a hot water bath help improve palkova texture?

Yes! Using a hot water bath (placing the bowl of palkova over or inside a bowl of hot water) after microwave cooking can help soften and smooth the texture, especially if the halwa feels too dry or grainy. It gently loosens the mixture without overcooking, making it easier to stir in ghee or flavorings and achieve that glossy, melt-in-mouth finish.

    Ingredients

    1 can condensed milk

    1 tablespoon ghee

1 tablespoon hung curd  or Greek yogurt

How to make caramel aavin Palkova with step-by-step pictures

    • In a large microwave-safe glass bowl, add 1 can of condensed milk.

    • Microwave for 2 minutes.

    • Stir well, then microwave for another 2 minutes.

    • Add 1 tablespoon of ghee, stir thoroughly.

    • Microwave for 2 more minutes.

    • Add 1 tablespoon of curd, mix well.

    • Microwave for 2 minutes.

    • You’ll notice bubbles forming in the center—this is normal.

    • At this stage, mixing the palkova will result in a grainy, sand-like texture, which is ideal.
    • If you're unsure about your microwave’s power, cook in 1-minute intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the bowl.
    • Once the halwa reaches the desired consistency and glossiness, immediately transfer it to another dish.
    • Let it cool completely before serving or storing.
