    Village Poricha kuzhambu

    Village Poricha kuzhambu

    This is flavorful kuzhambu without tamarind, or dal. Mixed vegetable with tomato sourness and freshly ground coconut makes the kuzhambu flavorful 

    WHAT KIND OF VEGETABLES CAN I USE? 

    Brinjal, potato, drumstick and avarakkai are frequently used vegetables for gramathu kuzhambu. You can use a combo of vegetables or just one vegetable. 

    Sourness for kuzhambu

    Traditionally tomato sourness for Poricha kulambu but you can use little tamarind according to your taste. 

    Can I skip onion

    Onion makes the kuzhambu flavorful do I wouldn't skip it

    OIL FOR KUZHAMBU

    Traditionally peanut oil is used for this  kuzhambu. You can use the oil of your choice.

    TIPS TO NOTE WHILE GRINDING

    Avoid making a fine paste-like texture. it might affect kulambu texture 

    Can I skip ground coconut

    Yes, there are versions of village style Poricha kulambu. One without ground coconut and other version is the style in stared the recipe. You can prepare according to your preference.

    TIPS TO NOTE FOR KUZHAMBU

    • To get rid of the raw smell boil on medium flame
    • Garlic and a small onion can be added while grinding
    • You can add veggies of your choice 
    • Add water according to your preferred consistency

    Ingredients

    2 tablespoon peanut oil

    1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

    Curry leaves

    1 onion

    2 tomato

    1 big drumstick

    2 Brinjal

    1 potato

    3/4 tablespoon sambar powder

    Coriander leaves

    Water

    To grind

    1/4 cup coconut

    1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds

    1 tablespoon onion

    How to make village style Poricha kuzhambu with step by step pictures

    • First grind coconut, fennel seeds, onion and water

    • heat oil and splutter mustard seeds

    • Add Curry leaves, onion and saute for a minute

    • Furthermore Add tomato, salt and turmeric powder; saute for a minute

    • add brinjal, drumstick and potato; saute for 2 minutes

    • Add sambar powder; saute for a minute

    • Add water; cover and cook till veggies gets cooked

    • Add ground mixture, coriander leaves and little water; bring to boil
