Can I make thengai ladoo with regular coconut?

Yes, you use regular coconut for making nariyal laddu. If you are using frozen coconut thaw it and bring it to room temperature. Coconut kept in the fridge also needs to come to room temperature before cooking. Once the coconut comes to room temperature dry roast in low flame till the moisture evaporates and coconut turns dry. Avoid browning the coconut.

Can I make Thengai laddu with desiccated coconut?

Yes, you can use but the quantity varies. If you are using desiccated coconut use 1 cup for 1/4 cup of condensed milk. Also, it is not required to cook the mixture if you are using desiccated coconut. Simply mix  well and roll laddu.

Unsweetened coconut flakes look lengthy can I pulse it?

I used store-bought coconut flakes and flakes looks lengthy if you prefer small flakes pulse it in mixie and make laddu.

Can I use milk and sugar instead of condensed milk?

Yes, you can milk + sugar instead of condensed milk but you need to cook for a long time compared to this version.  Use 1/2 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of sugar.
