Can I use the store-bought powdered sugar for Malai laddu?

Yes, you can use store-bought powdered sugar instead of homemade, adjust the quantity according to your taste.

Do I need this much ghee for making laddu?

To roll the laddu you need warm melted ghee but if you want to reduce the ghee then you can use milk instead. The shelf life of laddu made with milk is less compared to ghee laddu.

How do I know when to stop adding ghee?

Always add warm ghee in small quantity and try to roll laddu. If the mixture remains crumble you need more ghee but if you are able to make laddu then stop adding ghee.

Should I always add Warm ghee for making laddu?

It is important to add warm ghee for rolling laddu. Avoid piping hot as it might burn your finger but always use warm ghee. If for some reason you miss rolling the mixture immediately add a few tsp of warm ghee and you can roll the laddu.
