Without any string consistency, this is one easy halwa variety that can be easily made.

Should we mix water and custard powder before turning on the stove?

YEs always mix well and make sure mixture is lump free then cook halwa

    Can I reduce sugar?

Yes, adjust according to your taste. We have sweet tooth so I refer to adding extra sugar.

    Can I skip Food color?

Yes, a few years back I gave Guestpost to ãhãram Aruna's blog In that custard powder halwa, I used brown sugar and a pinch of saffron, skipped food color. Here is that version of Custard powder halwa without food color.

Can I cut the halwa immediately?

Always cool the halwa completely then cut the halwa. Grease and use a knife for cutting halwa.

    Should I roast cashew?

Roasting cashew is optional for halwa. You can saute cashews in ghee or add it directly.
