    Godhumai rava Payasam recipe | broken wheat payasam | samba rava payasam | wheat rava payasam is a rich and flavourful  Payasam/ kheer prepared with godhumai rava and milk. The pressure cooker makes it super fast. It can be ready for any Indian festival, special occasion, party, etc.

    As a kid, I was a picky eater when it came to godhumai rava. I always hated this payasam.  This is the version that i will enjoy mulitple serving also my kids like this milk jaggery payasam

    Should I cook broken rava in a pressure cooker?

    For faster cooking, I prefer cooking in a pressure cooker. You can also cook on the stovetop. Cooker helps for easy cooking.

    can I use cracked wheat instead of almonds?

    Yes, depending on the cracked wheat texture adjust the water

    Milk combined with coconut, poppy seeds and cashew  make this payasam super rich and tasty.
     

    Should I cook godhumai rava in milk?

    Wheat rava takes longer time to cook also water makes it cook best.

    Can I use evaporated milk for Payasam?

    Yes, use 1 cup of evaporated milk instead of 1 + 1/2 cup of milk.

    Can i use coconut milk?

    yes skip milk with coconut milk. In that case boil till jaggery raw smell goes off finally add coconut milk

    Ingredients

    To roast

    3 cashews

    1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds

    1 tablespoon coconut

    To grind

    1/4 cup water

    1 cardamom

    Pressure cook

    1 tablespoon ghee

    8 Cashews

    1/4 cup broken wheat

    1 tablespoon moong dal

    1 cup water

    Pinch of saffron

    Payasam

    1/4 cup water

    1/2 cup jaggery

    2 cups milk

    how to make godhumai rava payasam with step by step pictures

    • First roast the ingredients under “to roast” for a minute

    • Add water and cool

    • Grind with cardamom

    • add ghee and roast cashew ; keep aside

    • Roast broken rava and moong dal till turns aromatic and slightly change color


     

    • Add water and saffron; boil


    • Pressure cook for 6 whistles and simmer for a minute

    • boil jaggery and water; till jaggery melts and keep aside

    • Add milk and boil


    • Filter and add jaggery water

    • Add ground mixture and boil well

    • Turn off the stove and add cashews
