Poondu  Thokku is a flavorful side dish prepared with garlic in onion – tomato base. Garlic thokku tastes great with tiffin variety like Idli /Dosai/chappati/upma etc. Leftover thokku can be mixed with rice or taken as a side for curd rice. Thokku stays good for 2 days if refrigerated.

Let me start the post with a happy note. As usual weekend went super fast, Sunday started with a surprise for me, TMF has been selected as one of the blogs to follow in 2017 by Yum of china blog.

These days I am less active in TMF. I am enjoying Amma’s food, have clicked her tasty cooking, but I am just being lazy to draft.
Usually while picking my son from school, I ask him how was your day. He explains what happened in school and asks me my routine. Today we had the same chat and he asked me, “Did you do blog work today?”. All these days I thought he simply heard what I tell him, today I was super excited to know that he listens to me.  Kids grow so fast😊 Well I told him I will be posting today, and here is the post:-)

Coming back to Poondu Thokku, being a big fan of garlic flavor it will be in almost everyday cooking. I have posted couple of garlic based recipes in TMF. Recently I got so addicted to Garlic pickle and started buying Poondu from Costco.

One problem with Costco is the quantity. Few months back we went for a week-long trip and I was in the mode to clear my fridge before travel. I managed to finish the bag with few garlic cloves left. Day before our travel, with just onion and tomato left in the pantry I decided to make our family favorite Onion tomato thokku. For plain version usually I do without garlic. If I am using vegetable like Celery Thokku, I add little garlic. This time tried with lot of garlic. While having dinner I said today I prepared tomato thokku. He said this is garlic thokku, yes here is the recipe😂
