For a larger batch, you can also use a grinder but Mixie batter always gives spongy dosai.
Can I make thin dosai with this batter?
Yeah, you can make thin dosai. Spongy soft uthappam style vendhaya dosai is our family’s preference

1/2 cup idli rice
1+1/2 cup Sona masoori rice
1/2 cup urad dal
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon Chana dal
1/2 teaspoon sugar
how to make spongy dosai with step by step pictures
- First wash and soak idli rice, Sona masoori rice, urad dal, fenugreek seeds, Chana dal; soak well
- Grind the batter
- Add sugar and salt; ferment overnight
- Heat dosa griddle add a ladle full of batter; slightly spread
- Drizzle oil ; cover and cook
