You can use millet but flavor but vary

Will mixie batter result in soft dosai?

For a larger batch, you can also use a grinder but Mixie batter always gives spongy dosai.

Can I make thin dosai with this batter?

Yeah, you can make thin dosai. Spongy soft uthappam style vendhaya dosai is our family's preference

Ingredients

½ cup idli rice

1+½ cup Sona masoori rice

½ cup urad dal

1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds

½ tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon Chana dal

½ teaspoon sugar

how to make spongy dosai with step by step pictures

  • First wash and soak idli rice, Sona masoori rice, urad dal, fenugreek seeds, Chana dal; soak well

  • Grind the batter

  • Add sugar and salt; ferment overnight

  • Heat the dosa griddle and add a ladle full of batter; slightly spread

 

  • Drizzle oil; cover and cook
