Baked carrot fries | Carrot fries are quick 15 minutes tasty after school snacks  for kids. Healthy and tasty way  to make kids eat carrots.

Carrot is one vegetable which comes under top 5 least favorite veggies in my son’s list. I usually try to mix it with other veggies, and I hide carrots to make him eat. Most of the time even before tasting I would hear a big no from him. I always wonder how a kid with sweet tooth is a not a fan of a vegetable with mild touch of sweetness.

Few weeks back when my son had a play date, I made sweet potato fries for the kids, and I saw them eating happily. That’s when I thought of trying carrot fries. If it works carrot might be the next broccoli for him. Yeah broccoli was another vegetable he never tasted, until baked broccoli was experimented. Now a days it has become one of his frequently wanted vegetable.

In food52, I saw a baked carrot fries recipe with coconut, but I was little doubtful whether my son will eat coconut crisp. I saw a note about coconut , they have mentioned that coconut should a size of panko, so that inspired me to use Panko bread crumbs. I loved the idea of adding the crisp layer to the fries. Now our entire family became addicted to carrot fries.

Carrot fries is a quick recipe. For potato wedges, I would have soaked in water and put it on a towel to dry, but for this, cut the carrots, add the seasoning, and bake, fries are ready. Within 15 minutes fries are ready. Put the seasoning according to your taste, oil and bread crumbs for the crisp; fries are ready

Notes

  1.  Baking time may vary depending on the oven and also the thickness of the carrot. Watch out after 15 minutes
  2. Coconut, corn flakes, coarse nuts powder etc. can be used for crispy outer layer
  3. Chilli powder can be used instead of pepper powder
  4. Garam masala, kitchen king masala etc. can be used for Indian version of carrot fries
  5. Fries taste great of consumed immediately
  6. Any dips can be taken as s side. We mostly have it with coffee and finish even before thinking about a dip😊
