    What is Rasmalai?

Rasmalai is a very popular Bengali (Indian) dessert. Traditionally cottage cheese balls are soaked in rich flavored milk.

    Bread ka rasmalai

In this version instead of cottage cheese balls, flattened bread slices are used for soaking in saffron-flavored milk. Finally garnished with nuts of choice

    Why rasmalai with bread?

When we don’t have time to make paneer, this version is perfect for sudden cravings. It is also a tasty fusion dessert for potluck/ dinner parties / Diwali get together

WHAT KIND OF BREAD WORKS BEST FOR ras malai ?

You can use wheat, oats, or any bread of your choice but I would recommend maida bread as it gives the best taste and texture.

DOES BREAD rasmalai TASTES EXACT LIKE traditional  rasmalai

This is just a cheat version of the famous rasmalai sweer. It is a tasty Indian sweet but not exactly the same as a traditional one.

What should be the size of the cut bread?

To make it kids friendly portion size I have cut the bread into 4 pieces. You can cut each bread into the desired number of pieces.

Shelf life of rasmalai with bread

Malai stays good in the fridge for 2 days. If you are preparing rasmalai for a dinner party, just soak it for 2 hours. avoid soaking for a longer time as soggy bread might break into pieces. You can mix bread and milk just before serving but I prefer soaking for at least 2 hours and refrigerating.

    Ingredients

    2 bread

    3/4 cup Instant rabdi

    Serve

    Nuts of your choice

How to bread ka rasmalai with step-by-step pictures

    • Cut each bread into 4 pieces. I used 2 bread slices, so a total of 8 pieces

    • Use a chappathi roller and flatten the cut bread slices

    • Transfer the sliced bread to a wide tray

    • Pour malai all around and on top of the bread

    • Refrigerate for 2 hours. If you don't prefer soggy bread serve immediately but well-soaked bread tastes best

    • finally serve the instant ras malai with nuts of your choice
