Vendhaya | Fenugreek seeds are good for health. One-pot vendhayam sadam can be prepared in a pressure cooker and Instant Pot. It is good for digestion. Also home remedy for cold, cough etc.

    Should I soak rice?

Yes, whenever I am making one-pot rice recipes I prefer soaking rice for better cooking. I have soaked for 1 hour. Instead, you soak in hot water for less time.  If you are making it for school lunch, you also soak it overnight

    For rice for payaru sadam

I have used sona masoori rice. Instead, you can use any rice of your choice. Adjust water accordingly.

Can I add other masala powders?

You can use any spice/ masala powder of your choice to make it suit your taste buds.

What tastes best with vendhaya sadham?

rice tastes good with  ellu thuvaiyal, raita varieties, Vadam recipe, Poriyal variety, coconut-based dishes, tamarind-based recipes

What should be the ratio of rice and water?

Since I used less rice less I used a 1:3 ratio. If the race quantity is more you can add 2:30 portion of water for 1 portion of rice

How to make instant pot Coimbatore style vendhaya sadam?

    Cook in rice mode

    Can I skip crushing

If you are using pepper powder you can skip this step. Crushing gives nice flavor so I generally prefer doing it
