Condensed milk – creates the magic to the squares

I love recipes based on condensed milk. It gives an amazing flavor to any recipe. Can I make these dried fruits and nuts squares into Christmas shortbread cookies?

As I mentioned in the chocolate chip cookie, you can easily convert the squares into cookies. Drop a tablespoon of batter on a greased cookie sheet and bake them for 10 -12 mins until they turn slightly turn brown at the bottom. The cookie will be a little firm on the outside and softer in the center.

Will it taste like fudge ?

It is a soft-baked goodie but won’t taste like white chocolate fudge. Somewhere between burfi and bar texture

How to get firm shortbread-like squares?

I have used an 8* 8 square pan for baking. For this quantity, it gives soft candied squares. If you prefer shortbread candied shortbread  use a bigger pan. I have tried baking shortbread square with half of the mentioned quantity in the 8*8  square pan and it was towards the cookie texture. Alternatively, you can also spoon the batter for cookie

Can I use Whole wheat flour?

You can use wheat flour but the taste might slightly vary.
