    What is Mixture

Indian-style Mixture is a traditional savory snack recipe. It is often prepared during Diwali. The mixture is often prepared by combining a few deep-fried snacks.

    Why Corn flakes mixture?

Be it afternoon school snacks or tea time snacks or Diwali snacks we always prefer quick and tasty recipes. Traditionally makai poha is deep-fried in oil. This particular mixture version with corn flakes cereal is super quick but has no compromise in taste.

What kind of cereal should I use?

I have used Kellogg's original corn flakes cereal. Avoid foster flakes. You can use any brand

    Should I use coconut oil?

No, coconut oil is just a personal preference. You can use any variety of oil.  Oil is just for tempering. Adjust the quantity according to your taste

    Can I skip nuts?

Nuts are optional but it gives a good crunch and taste to the corn flakes chivda. You can add raisins for extra flavor.

    Can I skip chilli powder?

Traditionally mixture is prepared with chilli powder. You can adjust the chilli powder according to your taste. I have used  Kashmiri chilli powder. You can make a spicy mixture by increasing chilli powder.

    Shelf life of mixture?

The mixture stays good for 2 weeks. Always let all the ingredients cool completely then store them in an airtight container and keep it at room temperature.

Can I add roasted flattened rice?

Yes, you can add according to your taste.

What goes well with the mixture?

I like to munch mixture as snacks. It tastes best with coffee/tea. Sweet varieties. I also like having it as a side for kuzhambu/ rasam varieties.
