I think Weekends always come with a fast forward button, Two days just flew so fast.  Usually I am less active during weekends and Monday morning I think about my new post. This week  Sowmya from Tumas Tongue Treat made it  easy for me. Yesterday she pinged me and said she posted my "Orange Pulav" in her space. Yes this is my guest post for her blog.

I was so excited when Sowmya asked to me write a post for her blog. Blogging world introduced many amazing people to me, and I connected to Sowmya few months ago. We have been chatting since then. I was very happy when I knew both our kids share their birthdays and have something in common in name too 🙂

Sowmya is very friendly and helpful. She asked me if I can a write a post for her, and I was very happy and accepted, but with a little doubt on what to write.  I am a big fan of her pics and told her that my pics are not as good as hers. Without second thoughts she shared tips and offered to help me whenever needed. Happy to have such a sweet virtual friend. I love her home style cooking with a story about the recipe and cool pics.

Thanks to Sowmya for giving me an opportunity to write for her space.

I was confused for choosing a recipe for her, I gave her few options and she picked this "Orange Pulav” for the guest post.  As Chinese year (Feb 8)was about to come when I asked her, she choose this recipe, but as always lazy me delayed in sending the recipe and sent her after a week. I have one more pending guest post for a friend and you all can see the post in march!!

One pot meal is such boon.  There are days when I feel like spending minimum time in the kitchen. Those days I immediately think about some quick variety rice.  I personally like the flavors of whole garam masala spices and usually add it almost many recipes I do.

During my school days Amma use to pack Lemon rice, Coconut rice, Tomato Rice, Coriander Rice , peas pulav, sweet corn pulav and Vegetable Pulav  for lunch box. With minimal ingredients, citrus flavor creates such a great taste in lemon rice. If you are a big fan of Lemon rice, this Orange pulav will definitely please your taste buds.

Orange Pulav is a trial with yet another citrus fruit. Whole Spices complements the taste. I remember my mom adding turmeric powder in Lemon rice for yellow color, I have added saffron to give nice orange color to this yummy pulav.

Rich in Vitamin C this pulav not only tasty but also healthy for kids and Adults.  Orange color  from saffron and orange juice with green color from peas make this a great colorful treat for kids:-)

    Notes

    • I have used fresh orange juice without adding sugar. If you are using store-brought juice, use unsweetened
    • Pulav can also be cooked in Rice cooker or pressure cooker
    • If you are using dry peas, cook it separately and add it to the pulav
    • Saffron gives nice color to the rice. Pinch of turmeric powder can be added instead
    • Vegetables like carrot, beans, potato, corn, bell pepper extra can be added
    • Cashew, almond can be added for extra crunch
    • If you prefer the pulav to be slightly sweet, pineapple, raisin, apple etc. can be added towards the end
